Feast of the Saints: St. George
May 15, 2010
Saint George is widely known throughout history through myth and legend. History tells us that he was a Roman soldier who spoke out against the persecution of Christians, for which he was tortured and beheaded. He is most widely known for the legend of Saint George and the Dragon.
St. George is the patron saint of many professions, cities, and countries around the world, as well as of soldiers and farmers. A list of the patronages of St. George can be found here.
